The Council of State Governments (CSG) in their Policy & Research area has established a section entitled Sex Offender Management Policy in the States. Through this policy initiative, they are tracking trends in State sex offender laws; hosting national forums for state officials; and developing and disseminating educational materials on state sex offender policies.
The latest reports on the web pages are from 2010 and the last national forum for the policy group was in November of 2007. The presentations from the November 2007 forum (and previous policy briefing in January 2007) are listed, with information on the presenter. It must be noted that there are no direct links to the presentation material. In some instances, the presentation material is available on the CSG website but must be searched by title through a search engine (i.e., Google) to find the link.
The information provided below is an attempt to identify the entity within each State that provides guidance to or approval off treatment providers for those who committed acts of illegal sexual behavior. Actual certification of the provider may still reside with another State agency based upon the professional credentials of the individual or program proving the service within the State.
